Pool Studio is software that allows swimming pool designers and landscape architects to design in a traditional 2D workspace, then instantly view the design as a 3D environment in real-time. The 3D scene can be viewed in 3rd- or 1st-person perspective, and includes dynamic water features and real-time reflective/refractive water in the pool using a DirectX 9 pixel shader.
Water Shader and Water Feature EffectsI was responsible for setting the parameters of the per-pixel shader and the settings for the particle emitters used for the water features, and creating the textures for the particle emitters. I also designed particle emitters used for the "Deck Jet" and "Descents", which comprise 4 of the 5 types of water features offered in Pool Studio.
I created icons for buttons used in the startup screen, Presentation Mode, and interface of Pool Studio, and icons and cursors for the drawing tools. Redesigning the interface for Liquid Concepts was one of my primary responsibilities upon starting at Structure Studios.
Textures for Plants and TreesBeing able to show a customer a backyard complete with landscaping was extremely important to pool designers. These are some of the landscaping models for which I made textures.
Texture Samples: Plants | Tiles and Interiors | GroundThese are pieces of some of the 700+ textures I created for Pool Studio. The textures were used for plants, decks and copings, tiles, interior finishes, rockwork, furniture, pool equipment, doors, windows, walls and roofs.
Web Site | Identity & BrandingI was responsible for designing the company's web site and redefined the Structure Studios identity by designing new logos, creating catch phrases and icons, and designing ads, brochures, business cards, and trade show banners.
Misc. Images: BannerThis image is used as a banner at trade shows. The banner is 8x8' and was rendered at 8000x8000 pixels. Even at this resolution, the textures (most of which are 512x512) hold up quite well.
